Electronics + Biology

MaxOne is a CMOS-based High-Density Microelectrode Array (HD-MEA) System.

This enables compact yet powerful amplifiers, filters, and digitizers to be integrated within the MEA well—close to the cells under study.

Every Cell Counts

With MaxOne, each cell on the MEA can be accessed by multiple electrodes for recording and stimulation.

MaxOne enables long term monitoring of single cell activity, as well as the dynamics of the entire network.

MaxWell Monthly Must-Reads (April 2018)

After last month’s successful launch , it is finally time for the April edition of MaxWell Monthly Must-Reads. This month’s blog series will focus on Neuronal Excitability. The topic plays a key role in understanding how neurons encode and transmit information. At MaxWell Biosystems, we aim to develop assays for characterizing neuronal excitability, both in healthy and disease conditions. For this month’s MMM, we include recent studies on different factors that regulate excitability of neurons, such as ion channels, calcium signaling, and…

MaxWell Travels: Tel Aviv, Israel

Recently we participated in our first conference in 2018. Our CEO, Urs Frey, attended the Neural Interfaces 2018 meeting at the Bar Ilan University in Tel Aviv, Israel. As a sponsor, we had the opportunity to display our technology at an exhibition booth. Furthermore, Urs presented our technology during a presentation entitled “CMOS-MEAs for characterizing neuronal dynamics in vitro at high spatiotemporal resolution”.  The Conference The Neural Interfaces 2018 conference was a three day-meeting held at the Bar Ilan University. This year…

MaxWell Monthly Must-Reads (March 2018)

Today, we are launching a new blog series called MaxWell Monthly Must-Reads. Every month, we will feature interesting articles related to neuroscience, stem cell technology, drug discovery, and safety pharmacology. In this edition, we focus on Methods. We value well-designed experimental methods and protocols because they are key to new discoveries and ground-breaking results. Here, we include recent techniques for the generation of functionally active iPSC-derived neurons and brain organoids. We also feature a new single cell manipulation technique called…
