We have almost reached the end of 2020. In normal times we would now reflect on all the wonderful people we met around the globe during conferences. However, 2020 was a year that was turned upside down by the COVID-19 pandemic and numerous conferences went virtual or were canceled last minute. Even if we could not meet you face to face the team of MaxWell Biosystems was very glad to have the chance to participate in a variety of events to virtually interact with you!

Roche Corporate Day

One of the highlights for MaxWell Biosystems this year was the Roche Corporate Day. We were invited by the European Innovation Council and Roche to attend this event on the 23rd of June. We were extremely proud to be selected out of over 300 companies to pitch MaxOne and MaxTwo and have the opportunity to collaborate with Roche.

During the Partnering for Innovation Summit, we hosted a virtual booth at which attendees could chat with us and look through our material. In addition, we were able to present our products to various stakeholders. We would like to thank Roche and the European Innovation Council Business Acceleration Services for giving us this opportunity.

ISSCR 2020

Normally, one of the highlights for MaxWell Biosystems each year is attending the International Society for Stem Cell Research annual meeting. This year we, unfortunately, were not able to travel to Boston but still managed to attend the event virtually. In addition, we were an official silver sponsor of ISSCR 2020 Virtual.

From the 24th of June till the 27th of June, we hosted a virtual booth. Once again, at this booth attendees could chat with one of our 12 representatives or could download our brochures and protocols. Besides this, we also hosted an Innovation Showcase on the 26th of June. During this session, Urs Frey, Jan Mueller and Marie Obien from MaxWell Biosystems and Silvia Ronchi and Xinyue Yuan from the Bio Engineering Laboratory at ETH Zürich discussed “Next Generation High-Content Electrophysiology Systems for Efficient Functional Characterization of Human iPSC-Derived Neurons”.

Lastly, we sponsored the concurrent session “Modeling Development and Disease: Neural” on the 25th of June, hosted by Marianne Bronner featuring speakers such as Dr. Haruhisa Inoue from CiRA and Dr. Li-Huei Tsai from MIT.

Other Promotion Events

Besides Roche Corporate Day and ISSCR, we attended several other conferences virtually.

Firstly, we attended Discovery on Target 2020. This conference included some tracks from World Pharma Week, a conference we were supposed to attend in June. During Discovery on Target our Application Scientist Szilard Sajgo held a talk titled “Label-free functional characterization of 3D organoids at single-cell resolution”. Furthermore, he moderated the sessions moving towards a 3D physiologically relevant cellular model with the panelists Szczepan W. Baran, Linda Lieberman, and Robert Vries.
Secondly, we attended SPS 2020 which also hosted its event as a virtual meeting. Similar to the previous conferences, people could visit our booth and interact with our team.
MaxWell Biosystems could also be found at several other virtual events. We attended From Stem Cell to Human Development at the beginning of September and were present at BioJapan 2020 and the TEDD Annual Meeting in October. Furthermore, we had representatives joining both FENS 2020 and EMBC 2020 virtually.

We would like to thank all the organizers for the hard work and effort they put in recent months to ensure a smooth transition to virtual events. We also look forward to meeting you at the next (virtual) conference we will attend. You can find updates on this page: https://www.mxwbio.com/events/.

In the meantime, feel free to check out the webinars we have hosted in 2020. Access the replays here to learn more about the characterization of iPSC-derived neurons, organoids, and retina at single-cell resolution or about our software, MaxLab Live.

Lastly, as it might not be possible to meet you in person in the near future, we would love to have a call with you instead to discuss your research. Schedule a call with our specialists using this calendar:
